Words are important to me, especially in music. I listen to lyrics rather than to instruments, so I prefer artists that focus more on the words and less on the music. When a songwriter lovingly tongues each word, as though sad to see it go, I’m automatically intrigued. Not that instruments are unimportant to me; they are simply less so.
